Salem Ornithological Foundation strongly believes that participation and leadership of women are essential towards nature conservation. We have been giving special focus to encourage more women to take up birding. One such initiative is the Tamil Nature Webinar Series exclusively by Women Birders and Nature Enthusiasts of Tamil Nadu. Nobody knows how many women nature enthusiasts are spread across the State and this initiative aims to connect everyone on a common platform. Since August 23, 2020, we conducted webinars every Sunday at 11 AM in association with Bird Count India, and we have done Season 1 of 53 sessions including the valedictory session by Ms. Vanjulavalli Sridhar I.F.S. In this series, women presented their experiences, challenges, interesting observations, activities, etc.

There are no eligibility criteria such as educational qualification, experience in the field, experience in public speaking, etc. to speak in the webinar series; if you are a woman interested in nature, you are welcome to speak. SOF Sunday Talkies: Welcome

Every initiative by Salem Ornithological Foundation involves women's participation. It is my great privilege to coordinate and host SOF'S Sunday Talkies - Season 1. In order to make Nature conservation and bird watching more appealing to women, it is important to bring such initiatives to support fellow women and encourage the next generation.

This set of webinars definitely supports women to bring out their unique perspectives by contributing towards nature conservation through citizen science platforms. I assure you that this platform created by SOF recognized and continues to recognize the imperative part played by women for the conservation through their enormous commitment in making a solid foundation with their soul of commitment, dedication in various fields. Heartfelt thanks to the speakers for all the insightful presentations. Thanks to the participants for their time, effort, and keen participation in this Tamil Nature Webinar Series.
